Emerging at long-last from the bizarre mist, Johnny is relieved to spot a familiar landmark; a lone tree in the field, their hangout spot. From a distance, he observes his “friends” approaching, but
before they notice him, they are met by his doppelganger. Johnny’s heart sinks, for he knows he is still in this shadow realm and not in the place he now truly feels he belongs. Fearing discovery and unsure of the consequences, Johnny quickly hides behind the tree as the group of shadow friends resumes their partying.

Hours pass. Johnny is emotionally exhausted, but too afraid to leave his hiding place without being spotted. His friends leave to find more beer, but the shadow “Johnny” remains. He decides to take a drunken stroll through the field. Johnny tries to remain as still as possible, but there’s nowhere to
hide. He is in plain sight as his stumbling shadow self comes to face Johnny behind the tree in utter disbelief.

Johnny swiftly tries to retreat but without warning, shadow “Johnny” lunges at him. He overpowers Johnny, forcing him to the ground and choking him with an iron grip. As Johnny feels his life force draining away, he manages to wrap his fingers around the helm of the knife he carries. Mustering all his will, he plunges the knife into his attacker’s neck. “Johnny” tumbles lifelessly to the ground, as the hole his neck drains out, surrounding him in a lake of his own blood.
