Despite his efforts, Johnny’s strange behavior has alerted his “friends” to the possibility of him being an outsider. This is confirmed by the discovery of blood-stained foliage back in the woods where the makeshift grave had been.

His “father” finding the note in his handwriting, knowing that he himself did not write it, has now also uncovered the secret, forcing Johnny to confess to him the truth of who he really is and where
he’s really from. But having witnessed the gentle, reformed nature of his would-be son, his “father” seeks to help. He confirms the presence of another portal to outside realms. A tunnel filled with the
same curious green mist is located under the pulpit of the ruined church on their land. This, he instructs, will lead Johnny home.

Just as his friend-turned-enemy, “Evan”, arrives to wreak vengeance, Johnny plunges into the abyss under the pulpit and is swallowed up by the swirling mist.
