Johnny emerges from the mist and finds himself back in his own reality. The townsfolk notice him immediately, and Johnny is suddenly mobbed with people. “Where have you been?” they ask frantically. It transpires he has been gone for weeks. A wave of relief, coupled with sheer exhaustion
washes over Johnny. As the crowd swells, shocked by his reappearance, Johnny’s consciousness blinks out.

He reawakens in the hospital, surrounded by Evan, Claire and the sheriff. Momentary panic gives way to relief, as he realizes he is safe. But Johnny is desperate to see his father and it’s agreed that Evan will take him home.

But a horrific sight awaits. From a rafter in the ruined chapel hangs the lifeless body of Johnny’s real father. The words "I miss my son" are freshly carved into the wall below him. Johnny collapses,absolutely distraught. He cannot believe that his father would ever do such a thing. After all his
ordeals, this crushing blow tears Johnny’s world apart.

With Johnny at his lowest point, dangers once again rears its head.
